A Time to Say Goodbye

Having served in the pastorate and as foreign missionaries, we know how draining full-time Christian service can be. In 1987, we returned from the mission field spiritually "beaten up". God provided a place of refuge where we could be restored in the beauty of His creation. In 2007, He granted us the fulfillment of our dream to provide a place that we could share with full-time Christian workers in need of a spiritual retreat. And that is how Leahaven came to be.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows."

II Corinthians 1:3-4

In 2020 due to Covid 19, we regretfully suspended our Leahaven ministry. In the past two years the Lord has led us in a new direction, and He has shown us that now is the time to say goodbye. We are grateful for God's many blessings and so many precious memories. Thank you to all who have supported and encouraged Leahaven's ministry. We covet your prayers for the future.

Photo Tour

Welcome to Cloudland Station.  Roll down your windows and let's take a tour.

One of the simple pleasures in life is this perfect climbing tree in a grove of oaks near the entrance.

Whatever the season, the branches of the giant oak stand ready for adventure.

Across the road, Lake Angela offers fishing and canoeing, as well as a chance to watch the geese and resident blue heron.

The Homestead, including an Amish barn from the 1870's, hosts weddings as well as community gatherings.

The "This Old House" 2015 Idea House is the first house you'll see as you drive in.

Just over the stone bridge is the Village Square.  Flocks of wild turkeys often come to graze in the evening, a perk of the many green spaces at Cloudland Station.

The Schoolhouse on Village Square serves as a sales office for Cloudland Station.

The Schoolhouse porch overlooks a communal patio with an outdoor fireplace.  Restrooms are located in the round building.

Beyond the patio is a creek that beckons bare feet to wade in it . . .

. . . as it flows past the Tree House, every child's dream hideout.

The nearby Wishing Bridge Pond tempts explorers to ferry themselves across on the flat boat.

A covered bridge is another reminder that you have stepped back in time.

A right on Valley Rim Drive will take you to Leahaven, but for now we'll continue the tour.

Next are the Sweet Shop--always open and stocked with ice cream and other treats for purchase--and the Mill House.  There is a television available in the Sweet Shop.

Cherokee Hollow, home to an old Cherokee cabin, is often visited by wild turkeys.

Beyond Cherokee Hollow is Firefly Cove, a covered picnic area with an old stone fireplace for cookouts.

From there, a marked trail leads on a gentle hike along a winding stream . . .
. . . to Peacock Falls, a hidden gem.

For the adventurous, a steep hike up from the waterfall leads to Cloudland Station's own cave.
Back along the main road, the Recreation Barn is available for cookouts, basketball, volleyball and other games in case of inclement weather.

The freshwater Swimmin' Hole is a favorite summer destination with its beach . . .

. . . floating dock . . .

. . . and rope swing.

Overlooking the Swimmin' Hole, the salt water infinity edge swimming pool offers a stunning mountain view from its poolside tables.

Swinging back by the Swimmin' Hole . . .

. . . and Cherokee Hollow . . .

. . . we come at last to our wooded lot, convenient to the Village Square yet surrounded on two sides by untouched woods, with a little creek gurgling behind it ten months out of the year.

This is the view you'll see as you drive up to the house, and you'll know you've come to your "home away from home."  Come on in and check it out . . .

The sunny living room invites you to relax.

Cupboards full of books, a record player and a wood-burning fireplace are ready for your enjoyment.

The fully-furnished kitchen is ready for you to unpack your groceries and start cooking.

You can eat in the dining room, which seats 6-8 . . .

. . . or head to the back porch for easy outdoor meals, with the ceiling fans to help keep bugs at bay.

In good weather, head down to the patio to enjoy the woods and creek while you eat.  There's a grill tucked away under the stairs, ready to be pulled out for cookouts.

The master bedroom is large and airy . . .

. . . with its own private sitting area and a door to the back porch.

Feel as if you're on     an exotic holiday in the Orient Express-     themed master bath.

Luxuriate in a bubble bath by the glow of a real Moroccan chandelier.
There's also a convenient downstairs powder room.
Upstairs on the left is the Southwestern-style boys' bedroom, complete with twin beds and a reading nook.

On the right is the       cheerful kids'             bathroom.
The heart of the upstairs is the playroom, with plenty of books and a chaise lounge that's perfect for whiling away an afternoon reading.

Across the room is a couch and a cabinet full of games.

On beyond is the girls' room, with twin beds on one end . . .

. . . and a day bed at the other end for reading, lounging or an extra bed.

We hope you'll feel right at home and come away refreshed and blessed after your stay at Leahaven!
